Did you know April is National Poetry Month?
My good friend Brooke over at Violicious told me so, and we agree that April is the perfect time of year to bring something fresh and playful to your homeschool, family or writing life. This is also a great chance to really soak up what’s happening around us as spring unfolds.
Starting this week, every Thursday in April, Brooke and I will be hosting a poetry link-up, with a new theme to explore each week. The idea is to immerse yourselves in poetry, and create your own, inspired by the theme. Use any form of poetry, and make them as serious or silly as you like. Then link to your blog with you and/or your kid’s efforts, or post them right in the comments. Feel free to share recommendations as well!
This week the theme will be animals, as Brooke will be getting her chicks! You might think about who is emerging from winter sleep, returning from the South or coming into the world.
Next week: all things green-moss, shoots, bugs, buds-celebrate all the bits popping up.
Here are some resource ideas, that should be available at the library, to get you started:
See you Thursday!
